Communication Skills for Middle Managers

This one-day session is ideal for:

• Those in a middle-management role (managing supervisors/team leaders)
• Those identified with the potential to become middle managers of the future
• Those with middle management experience but no formal training
• Those aspiring to be middle managers

Course duration: 9.30 – 4.30 (Includes 1 x 30 minute break, 2 x 15 minute breaks)

Agenda

Morning Session

• Short introductions and opening quiz
• Understanding different forms of communication and how to set standards for each

Break

• Barriers to effective communication. Here we will look at what barriers prevent communication from being effective and how these can be minimised

Lunch

Afternoon Session

• Training and Coaching. This will provide attendees with skills on how to train effectively, how to ensure learners have understood the training and how to coach this into each individual until competence is achieved.
• Team briefings.  Here we look at how to effectively brief a team and how to ensure what the team has been briefed on has been understood

Break

• Management Meetings. In this session, we will look at how to hold and to participate in a formal meeting with a group of people.
• Communicating with senior managers and customers. Here we will address how to communicate effectively with those in a senior position plus customers, suppliers and contractors
• Recap and closing quiz

Summary

This course provides essential communication skills needed in a middle management job role. It can be used as a stand-alone course or as part of our ‘six-pack’ aimed to address a full range of training needs across the Middle Management job role. The other five modules can be found below:
